This is a skirts and kidneys of fiction, memoir, and history. The prose is poetic, but the images are conjured so effortlessly they kept stopping me in my tracks. It’s also a book about the (most recent) pandemic, and about how quarantine breeds an all-consuming obsession that quietly mirrors the women she memorializes.
