## Annotations
A beautiful, phenomenological novel. The narrative perspective is driven by experience of things like art, music, and cities. These aren’t objects of analysis but ways of actively being in and feeling the world. Less interested in events than in awareness, its real plot is the tremor (ahem) of consciousness meeting history, pleasure, and loss.
Cole’s ability to weave in contemporary events and reactions without feeling ham-fisted or cliched is a welcome gift. I also love when a book opens me up to art and music. So many notes about things to check-out.
